It will make the engine rev very quickly as you are derestricting the airflow into the engine.

Well the revving up quickly in itself is a great thing !!!
However there's a little more to it than that e.g. the jets in the carbs have to be set for a 1400cc and it has to be able to idle properly.
Also all these style of carbs when cold have a habit of popping back flames out the carbs so make sure there's nothing that can easily burn behind them.
They sound great when you floor it but be prepared for fair drop in fuel economy and also that they tuned fairly often to keep them in balance and mixture.
Nowadays this kind of conversion is purely for fun !

Thanks for the reply Lb

I have a ported head, a cvh22 cam, and vernier to fit with my twin 40's

Do you recon this would go well?

What would be my 0 to 60 time

Im gonna get the twin 40's jetted for a 1400,

The 1400 is in great condiction, no oil burning, very smooth, Was gonna get a 1600 in there, but the engine is too good to replace, And i might of got a bad 1.6

1400cvh is better than a 1600cvh put a diesel box on it for a long second gear and 0to60 will be fun

Yes, it probably could go well indeed as there's no emissions crap on these old cars to strangle the power output.
However as always with a vernier, take your time when setting up the cam timing (usually a dti gauge or equivelent is req) and put on cam lobes to check for timing.
It may not sound tricky but I found in my early days as mechanic quite awkward trying to set up a cam with a vernier properly bit of trial and error was required in my case due to not reading instructions he he !!!
However with most of the high lift camshaft manufacturers there's info given with them in a lot of cases.

I done this with an old Saab back in the 80s and messed about with a vernier and found that when I adjusted the cam a bit from standard I could get the car to rev and go like absolute f*** but the downside was it wouldnt idle worth a sook, it was very lumpy indeed so it was a bit of trial and error and a compromise between power and driveability.
The car already had twin strombergs on it so they were junked in favour of webers.
Oh yeah the fuel consumption was heavy when I had the timing adjusted for high end power, having said that Saabs arent exactly light on fuel to start with lol !
