Hi my dad has got a ford escort van 98S, think its the 75, and has only got 1 key and that is starting to get worn, is there any quick and simple way of getting another key cut for it before its to worn to cut, we have been told that if we go to ford its going to cost best part of £100 to sort. we have no key code and no red key so is it possible to by pass the imobiliser on this its the key with the red chip he has also go tthe same problem with his 94 M reg escort car, only he had his safe stolen in a burglary and that had is red master key to the van, can anyone help please.

i could tell you what i did for my sister in law ,i got a normal key cut and then got the old key and pulled the brass key bit out and duck tapped the rest to the new key ,never let her down yet mate cost about £15 if that

hi

had same with my Pug just 1 key

took it to Mr Minit, they dunked it in a machine, I assume to read the chip? and then selected blanks from the rack and cut them for me.

both work fine

charged me £25 for 2 keys (4years ago)

go to your local auto locksmith ask him to cut a empty key with no chip he will put your chip in it for you probably cost around £30 you will need a locksmith that does transponder keys

I had this prob only i had a key cut for the doors with a blank chip in it ages ago. i cut the chip out of the worn key and put it in the newer one, works fine. be careful though coz the chip is encased in glass.
