Hi everyone,
Under hard accelleration in Third and fourth gears my 97 escort seems to lurch to the left or right or left and right repeatedly. Its particularly bad when changing fromm third to fourth at speed (ie- overtaking). I am not a mad driver so this only happens when im overtaking or getting up a steep hill but its worrying.

I have a feeling i know what it is but i would like all of your highly valued opinions before i do any work.

I had the same on my Escort - (like being hit by a gust of side wind)

It was a loose wishbone bolt, but the same could happen if the wishbone bushes are badly worn.

So get the wishbones checked over.

yes thats the one, thats exactly what it feels like. I thought worn bushes was the culprit and they look like they seen better days, (only went on in feb tho).

Thanks for that
