poodles can be nippy if not controlled properly and socialised well just as any small dog can be my little boy hendrix thinks he has to protect me he started off a little nippy when people approached me as he was the only one i had then and i have to admit i spoiled him like a little baby but we got him out of it even though now and again he shouts at people when he thinks they might be a little strange

i'd leave it a couple more weeks becky and then you should know for sure just by feeling her tummy as they go quite hard princess's teats have all swollen now allthe way up she looks like a caterpiller underneath now and your right time has gone fast i worked it out on the calendar from when she was covered and couldn't believe it myself just when i was free from the puppy pen it will soon have to go back up

It's not that I dont want a pedigree, I just dont like the idea of having to spend alot of money. I am not tight with money, my hubby wishes that I am lol :-D
I love alsations but my hubby wouldnt have one near him. I would never in a million years leave my son or any child for that matter alone with a dog or even a cat. I agree that golden retrievers and labs are fabulous dogs to have but are a bit boisterous. I am forever out walking with Ethan so the amount of exercise a dog needs, I can give it happily in any weather.

sad fact is though gilly nobody wants to give dogs away for free i breed little poodles and poms myself and sell them at as reasonable price as i can although not too low as you get some sad people who treat them badly so it's hard work choosing the right new mummy for them as it's also hard to choose a dog for the family home to fit in with children as they come first

yh they seem a little swollen but i dont know lol... i think i will only know for sure if a vet says so because thats just the way i am.. like when kenzo died...i knew he had died in the taxi on the way to the vet but i wouldnt let myself tell me that the vet had to... its kinda the same with angel and the pups... a proffesional has to tell me else i wont believe it lol

i was told the ultrasound isnt dangerous it is the xray that is dangerous and most vets wont do xrays here anyways its more of an american thing.. also heard if a vet palates wrong he can damage pups and if its a small litter (which i have no doubt it will be) then the blood test to test for relaxins can be deceiving

Ello...am erring towards a yes she is, but im like kitty - not really sure!! lol Going to leave it a few more weeks and see how shes doing. At least shes eaten tonight, so shes got a nice fat belly anyway! lol
Gilly, in response to the original question - any breed big or small is goin to be bouncy with a young child. Have you considered getting an older dog? Older collies and older springers etc are still young at heart (mine was 18 and still wanted to play football!! lol) without being quite so boisterous. I wouldnt have a springer pup with anyone under 5ft tall!! lol Mine used to take me out for walks...!
BUT, when my daughter went missing once whilst we were moving house (long story, thought my mum had her..!!) There were numbers of huge farm machinery/tractors trundling up and down past the house, and my mum found her due to the dog having walked up with her (Amber was 2) and where she'd curled up under the hedge, the dog stayed wth her to slow the machinery down as they went past. She was also leading Amber home, which is amazing coz we'd only moved there in that hour!! lol Dog had also taken the two cats..
My animals are crazy, but very loyal!
They are incredible dogs.

Hi,

I have been thinking about a cavalier or springer spaniel. What about a scottie dog? I would go to the local rescue shelter but it kills me going to places like that and seeing all those sad dogs. We live in Newtownards, N. Ireland.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Gilly
