It looks as if my power supply/charger on my 1991 Abbey Lancaster has given up the ghost. The Mactronics company no longer exists and I am wondering whether it is possible to have my unit refurbished or repaired.
A circuit diagram would help enormously.
Alternatively whether anyone is scrapping a caravan with a similar unit in good working condition.
Finally suggestions for a good replacement. I am anxious to keep the use of the Abbey Computer controlled electrical management system . Or is that asking too much.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

That's the problem, that computer as you call it is just a few rows of press buttons operating a stack of relays inside the main unit and what a bag of bob they where!!!

Big trouble is everything goes in and then back out the box, to replace it although possible is a nightmare of rewiring.

What can I say? not really an option to replace it, it might be something very simple wrong with the box or just the opposite!, perhaps you have a local TV repair man or the like who could take a look at it?

Hi Gary

Many thanks - that is what I was afraid of. I have a neighbour who has had a look inside the mactronics box but without a circuit diagram he is unable to help. He is an electronics engineer and I suppose if it is defeating him then what chance have I got !

I shall keep looking and hoping but eventually I think that I might have to give up and simply replace with a new transformer/charger.

At least time is on my side since I am unlikely to use the caravan before next season.

Thanks again

Skidlid

I said TV repair man! you will not understand the difference but suffice to say a good one will not hide behind the absence of a circuit diagram?!!!

Hello again Gary

I shall contact a TV repair guy as you suggest. In fairness to my neighbour, he had a look at it before you suggested a TV repair man. He also said that he would have a further look once I brought the caravan home. I simply took off the supply/transformer and brought it home leaving the van at a relatives house some distance away. The neighbour is a retired marine radar electronics expert so perhaps I have been a bit unfair on him. He did say that it would make a difference to his examination if he could put it under load.

Funnily enough, in conversatio with a former TV man in Helmsley, he said that he used to repair these and that it was usually a burnt out transitor (?).

Thanks again

Skidlid
