Fiat Ulysse ECU help - Please. (Magneti Marelli IAW 08P-22)
Messages 1 to 12 of 12.
I have posted my problem on a different forum and I think it would be better on here... Various reasons. Please forgive me for taking the lazy route, but I have copied and pasted my queries, Below. "How it started off..." I have a chance of buying a 2.0L Petrol, Fiat Ulysse on a 'V' plate, which is generally (Body wise) in better nick than mine. The problem with the 'V' Plate Ulysse is that the ECU has gone. Am I able to use the ECU off of my 'P' Plate and fit it straight into and connect up and drive away the 'V' Plate? Or is it a case of it won't work (Different years) or a case of it has to be fitted BUT Programmed in? As always - your help is appreciated. I have just been informed that there is a built manufacturer emobiliser built into the key fob and central locking. The key fob has a missing button but it still works. Another thing is when I put the ignition on, there was nothing there, not even ignition lights. So I took the battery off to charge, but it wasn't flat?:
REPLY TO THE ABOVE: (It actually worked afterwards).
The Ulysse owner handbook states that the "K" symbol warning light is a "Self Diagnosis" (Amber). Comes on when there is a fault in the fuel feed/ignition system.

(both items stopped clicking when they were removed). 3. Somewhere towards the rear of the car. I believe the fuel works as I could smell petrol. I will take some pics of the first two items. If anyone wants me to?

I have just had an Auto Elctrician out (On his way home)... He plugged three (3) different machines in and NOT one could comunicate with the ECU. The clicking in the 3 places (Relay next to the ECU, the R7 relay in the FuseBox and the Petrol pump) were still clicking all the time (a few clicks wer still active with the ignition off and keys removed). Even though I charged the battery, it was flat -- and hearing the clicking intermittently after it was switched off with keys removed, I assume that this is what is draining the battery? We have ruled out the Relay (next to the ECU) because I swapped it over for him - using the one from my Ulysse that we are currently using. There is petrol getting pumped through as I can see it coming out of the top of the rubber pipe where it enters the copper? tubing to the engine.
He is talking about (If I want him to), coming out and spending the day on it, to "Pin" the ECU etc because he needs a good look at it manually as the ECU is not letting himput a machine on it. :_ Your help is appreciated.

I have a ulysse (which we use now) on a P plate. Same size engine etc. This one has a keypad immobiliser that has been bypassed. Would it be alright to take this off and try it on the V reg? To see if the ECU has gone. Would this effect the P reg (the original car it belongs to) when I put it back on? I mean, for example. You have a car radio, you disconnect and re-connect the battery - the radio asks for a code. I am thinking along those lines.

Thanks for your reply, Moz - I appreciate it. The ECU that I want to take out of my other Ulysse (that I am using at the moment) has been chipped? There is a keypad on there that has been bypassed on my 'P' Reg Ulysse, and reading though the posts on this forum, last night - it is through the actual ECU that this is achieved? This is not posssible you say? even though it has been chipped? If I did take it out and tried the one from the P reg, it won't do any harm and should work when I put it back in my P reg? Shouldn't it?
Speaking of which,From reading the threads on this forum, An ECU can be chipped (if that is the correct word? or reprogrammed?) I believe it is possible to programme them to bypass the Immobilisor, so that I can just use ordinary keys. (Just like the way it is, on my 'P' Reg'). Can anyone give me an idea as to how much this would cost Please? (rough;yly).

Thanks for your reply. I have double checked the ECUs and the numbers are as follows: V reg:- IAW 08P . 22 P reg:- IAW 8P . 22 I will try them later when the rain stops. I just removed the earth to the Front N/S wing, and was just putting it back when the Heavens opened up. I can also see one with two earth cables coming from it below that too. I know that there is one (That I can see from the front of the car) on the Gearbox. Where is the earth attached to the engine, Please? No doubt it will be on the underside at the rear of it?

It has wiped the code from my "Working" ECU and now my P red Fiat Ulysse will not start and needs re-coding too. To say that I am P'd off is a HUGE Understaement. http://www.talk.electricianforum.co.uk And our Own online Auction Site. http://www.talk.electricianforum.co.uk/vbclassified.php
