Hi all am fairly new here so bear with me. I just wanted to share an experience with you all. My Staffy has just had her first litter of pups and wow what an experience it was. I made regular visits to the vets with her throughout her pregnancy as she is very special to me. At her scan i was told she would be having around 5 puppies. I monitored her pregnancy very carefully, she never once went off her food. I also have a year old Rottweiler and they was always playing. She got to day 55 and seemed the same as always. She went out into the garden around 5.30pm to do her business, came back in had her dinner and climbed back into her whelping box and fell fast asleep. At 5.50pm i went to the kitchen to dish up our dinner and my daughter was sat in the front room with her, when she called me and said that Amber was panting really bad, i came in and sure enough she was, i bent down to see if she was ok and before i had a chance she was pushing the first puppy out, by 10.30pm that night she had delivered 8 Puppies !! We lost one which was still born, although we fought to get it breathing with mouth to mouth etc... but to no avail. The remaining 7 puppies are now a week old and going strong. Amber is a fantastic mum. I am just amazed that there was no warning i was looking out for all sort of signs. I wonder if any of you out there have had a birth that fast i would be very interested to know.

Bloody dog, if she is pregnant, shes the supermodel of the doggy-world coz shes not really showing at all!! I think she just likes to keep me on my toes! lol I will be ready if they do come, and disappointed if they dont - but we will catch her next time. :-)
Your girl is stunning! Very attractive. How is she with the pups? Is she protective at all?

Hi Nobby
She is a fantastic mum i can't fault her at all. She is not protective of the pups at all. Quite happy with people coming and going doesn't faze her one bit. They must have the cleanest little bums ever lol. I will keep my fingers crossed for you though.

my cavalier bitch had her pups last night / this morning... she was panting heavy which i knew was a sign of labour but thought it was too early seens she was only 58days preggers..about half hour later i stood up to see if she was ok and she had a puppy half way out.. that pup cane out pretty fast at 3.39am and then there was a long wait between puppies and then she had another pup at 5.36 but unfortunatly it was still born and no matter how much we all tried.(especially angel the mummy dog) the most upsetting thing was how heartbroken angel seemed she put all her heart and soul into reviving that pup but it didnt stand a chance..
we thought that was the end of it after that and my mum and everyone went to bed and i sat up with angel and pumpkin (her first pup) she seemed to be rejecting him and he was getting cold so i put him in a box with a hot water bottle and put him next to her but she wasnt intrested.. i soon found out why. her third little pup was on its way and she was born at 7.10am only teensy and a little weak but alive and kicking... her name is peanut and the stillborn was sparrow..

the wait between pups was really long but the actual birth of each pup was over in minutes :-)

im ssooooo proud and mummy dog and the 2 surviving puppies are doing really great.. ill upload pics later... you staffy n her pups are absolutly stunning

Hi Kitty

I am so sorry that you lost one it is heartbreaking Amber had 8 puppies but her second one was also still-born, like you we tried and tried to revive him but to no avail. I am please that mum and the remaining puppies are ok. You have a few sleepless nights ahead now as i spent the first 4 nights sleeping next to Amber just to make sure her and the puppies were ok. I will think of you and i hope all goes ok.
