lol have you ever heard a JRT going at it, even in play?!! They are not quiet dogs! Staffies are staffordshire-bull-terriers. All terriers are like that - noisy, boisterous, and playful!

just pointing out that a JRT is a jack russel Terrier. and a staffy is a Staffordshire bull Terrier. They are both Terriers. What you dont like in one, you will get in the other too. Wotever you get is ur choice, its ur dog, but you dont seem very informed of the breeds and their traits. Just coz a JRT is smaller, doesnt mean they are any gentler - in fact in our area alot of the dog on dog attacks (which are nasty) are by jack russels, they go for the throat and hang, shaking. im NOT saying that ALL JRT's are like that, but they CAN be sometimes. Was trying to HELP! :-) My husband's uncle had to have a spaniel pts after a nasty terrier attack which happened exactly as described above.

Im sure, as with all dogs, if you get one and make sure its socialised properly, hopefully it will be good with other dogs. They do have certain behaviours/reactions which are in their breed though, regardless of how you bring them up or train them. (as do all breeds, not just terriers!) Just trying to say that you need to look into all of these breeds thoroughly so that when you take a dog on, you understand it properly and make sure that you get the right dog for you - rather than take on a dog coz it looks cute as a pup, then have to rehome it later.

The best type of dog is one from a rescue centre, regardless of breed. With so many dogs looking for a home I wonder why anyone bothers to buy one. There will be a fee for getting a rescue dog but it will be far less than you`ll pay a breeder, and also you`ll be doing something worthwhile. Go on, you know it makes sense.

i have only ever been bitten by one dog, my grannies jack russell, jenny. she just flipped one day and went for my italian greyhound and got me instead! she and Lady had always gotten on brilliantly, sleeping, eating and playing together but she just went off on one that day. Jenny was usually the typical jrt, noisy, playfull energetic etc. there was no warning she just went, after that day, she never did it again and was back to being the brilliant little dog she always was. any dog can be nasty and to be honest i have heard of more small dogs than bigger ones biteing. staffies are well known for being great natured fun and loving dogs. i also have a soft spot for rotties :-) i think you will have to just go on individual dogs, and not have a breed in particular in mind, go to your local rescue and have a bit of a meet and greet with the dogs there. you may be surprised at which dogs you like best at the end of it!

It was me she was havin a go with yesterday poppet, but i have noted preloved have removed it dont no why,as i ended up haveing to back down just 2 keep the peice,i have noticed that she then pleads me me me why r u all pickin on me,as she is only 19 she said i was a pickin at her, so i backed off her,she seems 2 want 2 have the 1st and last word as will argue till she has it,i agree with u i am beggin 2 wonder if she wants a dog at all and maybe a stuffed one is the answer,Maybe it is the way u type things clare but you do come accross offensive and rude,Of coarse u are entitled 2 an oppinion,But when u ask the questions you dont want to heed the answers and then become annoyed with others,Matbe you could try a little more tact.

I agree - but when you ask a question, and someone tries to help you - you also have to respect their opinions too! You dont have to agree with the advice given, but if you asked in the first place, you should appreciate that people are taking the time to respond to you! You do tend to take everything personally when its not meant as an attack at all and at the end of the day - you will decide on wotever you decide on - all i did personally, was suggest that you may not have researched the breed you sed you'd like, and that maybe you should before you decide..coz at the end of the day, if you (or anyone!) get a dog on a whim coz you like it and then it doesnt work out, then where will it end up? ohhh another rescue-centre statistic.. Nobody wants that. :-)

in all honesty,an i dont mean this to sound rude clare..i think that sometimes people like yourself like the idea of getting a puppy,an get so into the idea that they dont re-search breeds etc and just take the first one that comes along in there price range. i think the best idea,if you do really want one (an remember it wont stay a puppy forever-it WILL become a dog) , is to re-search as many breeds as possible and find the right one for yourself and your family and then save up all the money you need to bye it,even though it might take a while to get all the money the end result will be the right dog for you. i dont think saying "ive only got a £100 and i just want a puppy" is a good idea because you wont be getting a breed of dog that you truly love. save up for a while (even if it takes a year!) and buy a dog that youve set your heart on.
