I have a 10 month old doberman bitch who constantly eats her own poo. It doesn't matter what we do she won't stop. She's fed on Pro Plan puppy food and will squat to do her business then turn round and tuck in while it's still steaming. She won't eat our other dobes, only her own. It's getting beyond a joke now as we have small children. Is there anybody out there who can help us???

Alot of people think that when dogs do this they are still hungry or have worms, this is not so it is because when they poo the food has not digested properly and it still smalls fresh to them so they re-eat it,Also you could try giving him pineapple as this breaks down the enzymes that could b lacking in his diet,Enzymes help the dog to digest the protein,But this does not work if this is not the problem,You could also try giving him digestive and b complex tablets with his food,This may cure his problem but poo eating can be the cause of many, good luck.
some dogs eat there own poo when they are lacking in certain nutrients etc..its perfectly normal according to all the books ive read.

Ewww MVR, my dogs roll in pooh to do that too! Dont think its normal to eat their own pooh - none of mine have ever done that! But, it does happen, my friends dog did and they sed it was coz her food wasnt properly digested so she was re-eating it! Not nice! Mine will eat cat pooh though. It Stinks! lol

Thanx for all your reply's. I think I'll try the tablets first, see if they help as we've got to do something. Our male doesn't do it, he looks at her in disgust lol and then she'll have a drink and their water bowl will be full of poo floaters !!!!!!
