sounds like one of the oxygen sensors has gone down. you have one before and one after the cat. upstream and downstream. you will need a diag check to find out which one is at fault.

no mate. if one of these had fixed the fault the car would run ok but the faults would need to be cleared to turn the light out. if he had given you a p code i could check to see what the exact fault is. sounds like a signal fault from the ecu due to the parts that have been fitted. poss broken wire, bad connection, corrosion in multi plug or ecu its self.

my mum has just had same problem with her c2. anti pollution light on and smell of petrol in car. took it to citreon dealership to get it fixed. they cleaned and replaced all the seals. light went off. £300. next day light came on again and still smell of petrol. went back and found a pipe had split, replaced £50. got home light was off no petrol smell. drove to bristol and sump guard fell down and light came on again. called in local quikfit who tied up the sump guard. went back to citreon dealer who told her it must be a faulty sensor and they would order a new one. they also fixed sump guard back up. drove back to bristol to see me and sump guard fell again and ripped. called in same quikfit and their ties they had put on the week before were still attached...no bolts. removed sump guard as was wrecked. played hell with citreon for not fixing it even though they had said they had, played hell with them for cleaning seals and charging £300 which in my opinion didnt need doing if it was a faulty sensor. they offered to do all work free of charge if she paid for sump guard (50) and sensor(50)....told them she would pay for sensor but not guard as it was their fault she needed a new one. they agreed to this ordered parts and told her to take it in this morning. went in and they told her the sump guard was £50 and the sensor was £95. they would now only charge her for parts so they went back on their word. it turns out the parts werent there so she had wasted another 14 mile round journey. has told them to stick it.....she is a single oap and has been treated appallingly by a dealer.....anyone know of a head office we can complain to?

Have look at my post under Peugeot 607 particulate filter, which is situated in front [actually part of ] of the cat. It has to be changed every 80.000/100.000 miles anyhow. Of course this is only on the diesels.
