hello. shouldnt really have any problems. yes access can be a bit tight as most are. normally use paint to mark it up, never had a problem. just make sure the engine is cold when doing it. and yes i would replce the roller and tensioner, get a kit. and also have a good check of the water pump. any weakness or slow leaks.. replace this.

hi

you say pre hdi what engine do you have 1.9 td ?

if it is the 1.9 td so you ned two 8m bolts about 2.5 inches long and an 8mm dril bit to lock the engine whilst you take the belt off. DONT however use these to hold the engine whilst you undoo the pully bolt, neither they or the castings they go through as they wont be strong enough ! but if you have done Pugs before you will know what I mean.

Al

its a dw8 engine mate and there 10x easier than a renault. if you used timing pins on the 1.4 pug its near enough the same. belts are a bit tight. the cam pullys are fixed so there is free play in the crank pully so leave the bolt loose until its timed up.
