I have replaced the spark plugs on my 1996 synergie.to access all the plugs i had to remove some of the air cooling pipes(wrong technical stuff but i hope you know what i mean)and unfortunately i have a rubber pipe approx 5mm thick that pumps out air intermitently going nowhere.the engine runs but appears to be running "rich".THe pipe is only 8 inch long and doesnt appear to have anywhere obvious to go
Any advice much appreciated
Andy

Could you take a picture with a digi camera and post it on here and that would make it easier for us to determine what the pipe is.
Sounds like a fuel pressure regulator pipe or even a map sensor pipe.

Sorry for the slow reply, been away from home !
Anyway just looking at your pictures and see the pipe.
You say that it seems to blow out air intermittently yeah ? is the air oily smelling and more pressure coming out when revved up ?
If so then it's more than likely a breather pipe.
Does the other end of the pipe (connected end) go into the cam cover or thicker looking pipe ?
Most pipes of that diameter usually connect up to the inlet manifold or throttle body at a vacuum take of point.
If you can find where the other end is still connected to that will help make things a bit easier.

thanks again for getting back.the air does suck intermitently but appears to suck consistently when revved.i have tried to indicate where the pipe goes into with a pencil-there is just a small piece of copper piping showing where it goes into the cover next to the throttle.the engine is smelling as if on full choke but not excesively revving
Thanks for your help Andy
