Help!!! I have a problem with my heater,the blower only blasts out heat intermitently,that is to say,now and again..I have had the blower motor tested and that is fine...I think it might be the control unit on the console as everytime it is on the `MAX` setting it will blow out heat but if I move the control a bit it will stop working for ages and then just come back on at some point by itself..I have tried getting another from the scrapyard but not joy there,also to take out the unit is a bit of an uphill struggle so I want to be sure it is the unit before I start taking the dash apart....any help people will be much appreciated.....thanks.....Neil F

Hi Neil
I had the same problem with my Xantia.When the heater is not working check if the rear screen heater is working if it is not the problem is with the ignition switch. My local Citroen specialist told me that they had installed a by-pass wire,apparently this is a common fault on Xantias.

thanks for the info ref:the rear heater ......I recently replaced the ignition switch on my xantia as it had a short on the wire and the rear heater worked, still does...it is the main blowers that have stopped for now!!! any help further on this .....cheers........neil

Hi Neil
Have you checked the heater blower motor resistor. It is located in the base of the casing next to the motor.

Hi ...thanks for the info....I have had the motor tested a couple of months ago and that worked but the blowers didn`t actually blow heat out.....that is until a few weeks back when it started doing it intermitantly kind of thing...but i will have a look at the heater blower motor resistor and see if that is the route cause...can I have this checked to see if it still works etc or will there be and obvious sign that I will spot...cuurently I have taken the radio and ash tray bits out to investigate further but the controls are a different thing as you know...a lot of taking apart is called for and I dont want to waste my time so your help is very much appreciated any futher also on this would be great.....cheers .......Neil
