Saxo - engine racing

Saxo - engine racing

I have an R reg 1.4 petrol Saxo.

Had a new centre exhaust section (with cat) fitted yesterday, now the engine races (2500 rpm) on tick over.

Has a sensor likely to have been damaged or not connected?

the only thing i can think of that may have been disturbed is the oxygen sensor maybe. or could have just developed a fault, enigine racing could be an air leak on the engine. split pipe, or a throlle body problem,. is the throttle cable ok?
