YESTERDAY WHEN I WAS DRIVING MY "W" 2000 REG XANTIA 1.9HDI FORTE I NOTICED A RED LIGHT ON THE DASH WITH THE WORDS "STOP" BEING DISPLAYED ALSO THE RED LIGHT ABOVE THE TEMPRATURE GAUGE WAS FLASHING. I FOUND THIS STRANGE AS I ONLY DROVE A SHORT DISTANCE AND THE CAR WAS STILL VERY COLD. CAN ANYBODY LET ME KNOW IF THEY HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM? THANK YOU.

Does your car have aircon by any chance ?
If so it could well be one of the blower motor relays is faulty or the cooling fan itself.
When I say blower motor I mean the radiator fan(s) under the bonnet.
