Xantia wont start when pointing uphill

I have a Xantia 1.9TD 1999. I live in Spain and do not have a haynes manual. My Xantia runs and starts well until I park it with the front pointing up hill. The longer it is parked the worse it is to start. If I park facing downhill it will start. My Spanish mechanic has replaced the glow plugs but when asked what this problem is he shrugs his shoulders and says " no say". Help....

Try the primer bulb which is near the engine mount, has a one way valve inside it that deteriates with age, put a new one on for about 10 quid - then should be sorted. Ta
