hi, an A reg, is it a p100, i had a late Y reg 1600 crusader with ghia wheels,
i would have thought your best bet would be to get a haynes book on ebay, ive seen a few low mileage mk 5 cortina's on ebay

best of luck

A' reg cortina's were very rare indeed as sierra's started on a Y'
I've only ever seen one.
I had 3 of these in the distant past and thought they were great to work on in comparison to cars now.
The biggest problem with cortinas is RUST ! if this is still a very nice example then you need to protect the under side, inner wings etc.
This engine was a superb engine in it's day almost bomb proof ! if oil is changed regularly but is somewhat thirsty in relation to modern equivelant engines.

Moz There are differences in the running gear from the cortina to the sierra.
Although with a little fiddling they can be interchanged.

wow! we are going back now , the early ohc engines did suffer from poor oil feed memory says ford did modify this ,there was a tool available to adjust tappets but fairly certain 2 x 17mm spanners are needed one of them required bending at the open end side ,i,ll look into it further if needed

Yeah Bowman, the tool was mainly for no3 and no2 cylinders I think as the carb got in the way of the spanners when trying to adjust the tappets.
The oil feed holes were enlarged in the modified spray bars later on.
