This car starts and runs fine when cold, but leave it for 3 or so mins and it starts to labour and smoke badly, till it eventually cuts out.
I have changed the injectors and it makes no difference.
Someone said the exhaust could have a blockage. Has anyone heard of this and are there any other suggestions for this symptom?

Hi bullybeef just joined, what colour is smoke black or white??

first thing air fillter out, still the same ? finger in exhaust pipe caked in oil ? turbo. Is the fuel ok If its white unburnt fuel or water in cylinders, or incorect valve clearance let us know

Hi there,
I dicovered other things wrong while checking the car out and so decided to part with it 2 days before your reply. Got 85 quid from the scrappy.
Thank you you for your advice anyway. Still have to say it's one of the best cars around on the secondhand market, so would recommend them to anyone else who reads this post.
I have now gone Jap with a Toyota Carina. I suppose I will have to unsubscribe now as I am no longer catered for. Been good reading all the info on this site and very useful.

Lookforward to hearing how the Jap goes, though personally, I've not had much luck with them in the past, had a 180B that desolved quicker than a 70's Lancia !

Yeah, the old Datsuns were always a bit dodgy. Most people say that these Carinas are a good car so hopefully that will be the case.
