Hi, my 2002 Picasso HDi has an annoying rattle on startup and switchoff.
Sounds like the exhaust but had that checked and its fine, my next thoughts are engine mounts, the top one seems fine, is there a known problem with this?
I also have another rattle/tapping sound which increases with revs and goes almost away when warm, after doing a few searches it sounds most likely the bottom crank pulley, I have ordered one and will get it fotted next week, just hoping I could identify whats causing the startup rattle so I coule get the parts ready to fit at the same time,

sounds like the bottom pulley. very common. i would prob check it first as these pulleys are quite expensive. with the engine off see if the outer part of te pulley is loose or looks like its off centre, if you get someone to turn the steering and hold it in lock and have a loo at the pulley you can usually see it rattling around.

I would second Tonys opinion on this.
Do not leave this too long as swarf from the pulley starting to break up can enter the belt area and cause problems.
However whilst the pulley is a bit pricey it's relatively easy to fit.

Thanks, seems to be running out of true. non OEM part on the way, I know many people reccomend using OEM but for nearly the fifth of the price, I'll take a chance!!

oem part should be fine,Thats what i use at work and havent had any repeat failures, hope it sorts it out for you ., sorry for the bad spelling on my previous post!:)

Thanks, I wouldnt mind but the original was £179 and the spurious was £33 including delivery!!
