If you search on http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/ there is loads of information. We've been to quite a few sites who accept dogs and have had no problem at all - I think all fellow campers ask is that owners clear up after their dogs and don't allow them to roam free all over the site - You'll be amazed how many people don't follow the site rules.Your dog is part of your family and you'll be amazed how the fresh air and plenty of walks seems to zonk them out !!! You can but try it, if it doesn't work then nothing lost. Enjoy x

Come and join dogfriendlybritain.co.uk , lots of doggy info including accomodation , hols , places to visit , whats on and lots of pet products and doggy stories etc and a great forum too , we are camping for the first time this year although we have always taken our dogs away in a tourer with no probs , they love it and the fresh air and constant toilet breaks on top of normal walks knocks them out (; Sadly iv'e just lost one of mine ( Toby on right of pic ) god bless him ,and he was the dog who just loved to be out there with you and was a star in the caravan and on sites .

Being a camper with a dog I can definitely reccomend http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk as others have said, you can read the reveiws of people who have used the sites. I can also reccomend joining the Camping & Caravanning Club, not for their sites but the access to 000's of CS sites that can cost from just a few pounds per night to stay on. Good luck Mike

We, along with our Greyhound "Millie" have enjoyed lots of camping holidays in Devon and Cornwall. As previously suggested, have a look on the Camping and Caravan Club Web Site, a dog symble shows which sites will accept pets. All have to be kept on leads, and obviously one always clears up any dog waste. Have fun and happy camping to you and your 2 pets.

Personally we take a Rhodesian Ridgeback and Bernese Mountain Dog with us every time. The only limitation for us is, we can't go to all the better beaches with the kids (dog free). What the heck. Now and again we'll put the pooches into kennels, and the other times we accept the (perhaps) lower quality beaches so we can take the dogs. Meantime, we always put them to bed in the car. They are happy there in the warm, and I don't want to be woken by my Ridgie coming in to say hello at five a.m.!

You can always 'wild' camp. So long as research it a bit and find out the general code of conduct that you ought to follow when doing it no one normally minds (so long as you do it in a fallow field). Anyway, I am yet to take my dog camping with a tent (although putting them in cars is a fine idea, although obviously doesn't work when you don't have your car with you) but I am planning to put him to bed in the porch bit (in my tent there's a gap of about 1.5m x .75m 'twixt the inside part of the tent and the outside) it's warmer than being completely out in the elements but I think I'll bring a blanket along for him, or at least donate my coat to him for the night.

I am a newbie to this forum, but just had to relply 8-)We've been camping loads of times over the years with our dogs, the most we've taken is 4. They are medium to large sized and we always been in a tent. We've found loads of campsites in Wales are brilliant as long as the dogs are well behaved. We've been to a few in Barmouth and Anglesy. It's only now after about 15 years of tenting it that we are thinking of upgrading to a trailer tent. Have a go you'll love it ;-)
