I have a citreon synergie 1999 1.9tdsx. My mechanic told me I needed a cylinder head because my timing belt had broken and bent valves. I got everything he requested but he cannot get the head off.Is there a way of getting the head off from the top or will he have to drop the engine down? If so would it be cheaper to get another complete engine and put it in? would there be much difference in money by the time you buy all the bits and pieces for the head? please help, thanks

best way is to drop engine. it will work out much cheaper to fit a second hand engine but finding a good one is the problem. how does he know the head is damaged if it is still in place???. it may just need a couple of valves. if your mechanic thinks the old head is damaged before he has removed it you realy need to find a better mechanic.
