My wife has a 51 plated TD4, recently she has noticed a loss of power on the motorway, then all of a sudden it will come back again. Everythings seams to run fine, then when she try's to overtake, she hits the gas, but nothing happens. This would happen 3 to 4 times on a 20 mile run, but we have then serviced and MOT'd the car about a week ago, where oil/air and diesel filters were changed, this has helped slightly but it still happens at leats once on the same length of journey. Any suggestions of what might be happening and a possible cure?

hi there, sounds like loss of turbo, check your turbo to intercooler pipes, could have a small leak.
rubber tends to perish.
top pipe failed on mine.

Friend of mine had exactly this problem on his TD4, turned out to be the variable vanes in the turbo, no choice but to fit a new turbo but it cured the fault, landrover wanted £1500, but got one off the net for about half that and they are not easy to change.
