that only syncs the central locking. you need to close all the doors, open the drivers window and the bonnet. make sure the key is out of the ignition and wait for 2min for everything to shut down. now disconnect the battery for 5 min. reconnect the battery and work the door locks with the key until you see the indicators flash. you may need to try drivers and passanger side door locks. do not open or close any doors while you are doing any of this. if it does not work it will need to go on a diag tool to recode the keys.

the battery going flat is the problem mate. keep working the locks and pressing the buttons. c5's and xsaras are a nightmare for this. basically what happens is when you open a door or work anything electrical it wakes an ecu up. when you turn the car off if the ecu does not detect any discharge it shuts this ecu down just like you would shut a pc down. because the battery was flat when you opened the car door it will have woke the ecu up and when you have cranked the car its used whatever power is left in the battery causing the ecu to power down with out a proper shut down so just like a computer any data that was not save will be lost. in this case its the rolling code for the immobilizer. once you get the remote to work the car will start.

Hi all, have the same problem with my xsara, as previously listed & have tried all the suggestions but mine has gone into eco mode, which does not allow me to use any accessories, including the front driver & passenger windows. Any other info or suggestions you may have would be greatly appreciated. Chris
