Good morning all! I need some advice on where to take my one year old hobby, bought in Germany, for service? I live in Herfordshire and I would rather not go back to Germany just for service.Thank you and happy caravanning this summer! Frank

Hi Frank As a Hobby owner you should have a booklet for servicing. The 5 year water ingress warranty inspections MUST be done by an authorised Hobby Dealer and the booklet stamped. The servicing could be done any competent organisation because the first service is at one year and the normal warranty expires then anyway. There is now a U.K.Fendt importer (same group as Hobby) who MAY be prepared to do inspections/servicing otherwise contact Ambergate at Ripley, Derbyshire, the U.K. Hobby importer, for the current list of Dealers.

Sorry Peter, the 7 metre maximum length refers to the length of the body excluding the towbar (A frame), i.e. the external length. As this length includes gas lockers and rear mouldings there could be a considerable difference between internal and external body lengths.

Hi all you hobby nuts, just to let you all no i am in the process of doing a deal on a mitsibisi L200 warrior so i will be LEGEL at last, i recemmend you go out and buy a commercial vechicle if you dont already have one. I was someone who joined discussions about the 2.5 metre law and disagreed about this but i was wrong. You can not tow on a 4x4 only a commercial vechicle. Good Luck

Hi, is your L200 over 3.5tonne and is it fitted with a tacho? Just wondered as previous posters on this site have stated that these are requirements otherwise you could tow with escort van as it is a commercial.

L200 is 2 tons. Towing capacity is within limits but the unladen weight is only 2 tons. It has no problem pulling the caravan but the technical dimension restriction will not let it comply. Bottom line is while the UK is not in line with the rest of Europe on this law, better buy a 2.3m caravan if you wish to travel in the UK, and larger if you wish to travel abroad. Best option is leave your larger caravan abroad in storage for the time you are at home. This is cheap to do. If this doesn't suit you, then buy a mobile home or holiday cottage or buy a "normal" touring caravan and leave the table lamps at home.

Are you sure about L200 being 4 tonne? long wheelbase sprinter only 3.5. I'm not sure, was just letting you know because if you go out and spend money thinking its right and its not you might as well stay as you are, like I said I'm not sure but its definatley worth looking into as the people on here that say they know what they are talking about posted it, I'm not going to go out and buy anything as it is such a grey area, I'll carry on towing with my ford galaxy.

Hello readers,
There are a large number of versions of the L200. Weight varies considerably. There is an L200 Owners club at http://www.L200.org.uk Well worth chatting with some existing owners, through their forum to get factual information.
Don't forget the driving licence required for commercial vehicles in excess of 3500 Kg together with other restrictions of use and insurance.
Regards.

We are looking at Maximum Gross Vehicle Weight which is Unladen Weight plus Maximum Load ...The new Ranger Rover does NOT have a MGVW in excess of 3500kgs its MGVW is only about 3200/3300 so i would have thought a Mitsubishi L200 would be much lower and of no use Hobbynut
P.S have just checked spec on Mitsubishi site...MGVW for L200 Double Cab is 2570 kgs and 2830 kgs for the Animal..so both a mile out

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, Donna.
There is a lot of good information available on this forum, unfortunately some of it gets missed by readers.
Hope all goes well for you and you can get sorted out.
Regards.
