My question was, when you buy a Hobby in the UK from an importer, who fit the fire retardent foam in the seats etc, is the factory in germany or the importer, or does no-one do it?

Having spoken to a couple of importers of German vans, I got the impression that they do this work. Personally, we prefer the German no oven, no carpets layout, but the british dealer insisted on fitting these as well!! Well, you have to find some excuse for charging an extra £3750 I suppose? The result...we returned to our old german dealer!

Hello Stan, If the Hobby you buy is an official import (ie though Hobby UK ) then the fire retardant and electrical work is carried out at the factory.

hi there to every one and thanks for everyones input, we love the hobbys wish the uk caravans had same build quality, but due to the fact they are a target for being stolen and ilegal to tow unless you tow with a long wheel base transit, we now own a british van . mostyn
