Has the van been serviced regularly? If so, a basic charge of £140 + VAT for 'up north' van servicing whilst £160-180 + VAT 'down south' can be expected. This would cover the normal annual service. Any extra work and spare parts (+VAT) must be added. If the van hasn't been serviced regularly you might find there are other additional costs. Always ask 'How much' before work commences. Most dealers will give an estimate subject to problems found at the time of servicing. Hobby require 5 annual services if you want to ensure the 'water ingress' part of the warranty is maintained. Regards. Peter
Hope this helps. Peter

HAS ANY ONE GOT ANY IDEA WHERE i MIGHT PICK UP A SECOND HAD OR NEW FIRE FRONT FOR A 540 uk 2002. My son stood on top of the original one to reach his jacket in the wardrobe and broke the top of it,I tried to repair it but it will need replacing. Any help would be much appreciated Cheers Gordon

We have a 560 and I think they work the same. The water heater works of 240V only. If you have a battery for 12V you will need mains hockup for the water heater to work. Run the hot tap for a while to get air bubbles out. Once this is done you are safe to press the red switch above the cooker. Make sure you have enough water in your water take as you dont want that to be to low. It will take around 15-20 before you notice the hot water but once its ready it should be very nice. Works that way for me anyway. Cheers Graham
as the previous members said plus. Where the hot water tank is there are two taps ( used for draining the tank)make sure they are closed before you try to fill the hot water tank or it will just run away via the outlet for draining the tank down. Once the tank has been filled it usualy takes about 20mins to heat the water fully to about 65degrees. The time it takes to heat the water may depend of the condition of the tank etc. When you have finished using the water tank make sure you fully empty the system via the two taps next to the tank, failure to fully empty the tank will result in frost damage during the winter months. This is how we do it and have had no problems to date (touch wood) cheers Gordon Adverts Currently On Preloved - Place an ad here for free
The small TRUMA water heater to which you refer, is usually under the fixed bed or seat lockers. The tank is surrounded by insulation and a cicular, heat resistant plastic encapsulent. As has been previously stated, there are two drain valves that must be opened during winter storage. However, it is very important that you also open the hot water taps, particularly the shower valve, if you wish to drain the system effectively. The same applies if you drain down your cold water system. If you have a 12 volt battery setup you must make sure that it is isolated from the circuits supplying power to the water pump(s) whilst the taps are open! If you have a fixed onboard water tank it is important that this is also drained down to avoid the water in the pump from freezing and cracking it open. When preparing for use, both the hot and cold water systems should be flushed through. The cold water tank and pipes should then be treated against bacteria. Finally, close off all drainage valves (some are screw down, some are lever operated), fill the cold water tank(s) with fresh water, close the taps and turn on the 12v power to the pump(s). Open each cold tap in turn and wait until the water runs freely without bubbles - take care with the shower valve being set to cold - turn them off. Now do the same for the hot taps, including the shower valve set to the hot setting. Top up your cold water tank(s) and then turn on the red, illuminated switch above the cooker unit. This assumes that your mains supply to the van was hooked up! Remember that there is also water in the loo tanks and these should also have been emptied/drained down before the arrival of frost conditions. Hope this helps. Peter

I also have a prestige; [pre' 1990]. My fridge doesn't work on either gas or electric. I've decided to replace the fridge; removing the vents doesn't seem to give me the access I need; and I haven't found out where the fixings are. unfortunately previous advice didn't seem to apply to my set up. I think I'm going to have to take the van off the fridge; rather than the fridge out of the van !!! I'm using a cool box at the moment. As for the water; it may be an air lock prob'. Trychecking the cold side is ok first by opening the taps one at a time; then try the same with the hot. regards jg
When you switch on the bathroom tap or shower you are operating the pump and supplying water to the kitchen tap as well. It is not usually a difficult job to change them but not knowing the exact type fitted I could not give you any detailed instructions. I got tired of replacing them on my van and fitted a pressure switch instead. Cheers Paul
