I had mine done a good few yrs ago, havent had any trouble with it at all, just make sure she doesnt wear jeans/waistbands which may catch it - if she wears the fashionable low ones, it shouldnt be a problem anyway. My daughter wants hers done too. Am considering it, but im goin to get it done in the summer hols (if we do!) to give it time to heal and her to get used to it. If she gets any redness or soreness, change the bar before the body rejects it. Alot of people are allergic to the surgical steel bars. I had to go with gold. More expensive, but healed faster after my allergic reaction! :-)

Omg nobby mine did the same hen i hd the surgical steel but it was so bad I had to let it heal and the wait 12mths before I could have it done again. I had it done with gold and its been fine. I can wear the steel ones now its healed with no probs. I had it done 10 years ago and have been pregnant 2 with no probs!! My old boss was so thick she was convinced that the baby couldnt feed properley when i was pregnant because I had a piercing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to sit her down and explain that your belly button is where you feed from when your inside your mom not where your baby feeds from!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *!#%!@ how stupid!!!

Is the Titanium ones different to the surgical steel? Ive always opted for the titanium and never had problems with piercings.

lol Janine thats so funny! And yeah i can wear the s.steel ones now too..but its taken years before my body would tolerate them. Im not sure about titanium..never tried that and dont know much about it. Personally i think gold is the best if you dont want a reaction..but it is more costly. Or u could do wot i did and buy a cheaper gold bar from Argos or something, and change it a week or so ater getting the piercing done! lol

Gosh ur brave to post a pic of ur belly - not a hope in hell would you ever get a glimpse of mine!! lol I personally got mine done after having babies and gaining alot of unsightly stretchmarks. I felt so ugly that i wanted something there for myself, to make it look a bit prettier. :-) I only have a few bars, one gold, and a few pretty dangly ones which i dont wear coz they get caught in my clothes! My top hole has stretched a little, its the shape of the ball at the top. (gross! lol) I love my bar now though, its a huge oval amethyst (about 5mm long) which almost fits my belly button although its not too heavy and very pretty. Thats the one i wear the most. :-)

I was really lucky, I didnt get any stretch marks on my tummy. I got small ones on my thighs and boobs but no where else. I was really pleased!!! i have a jelly belly which no amount of excercise will shift but thats it. Im only in a 10/12 now since losing all the weight but on my tummy i cant just pinch an inch I can grab about 12!!!!! Its hilarious.

I wear a surgical steel oval shaped ring.Got my piercing done about 5 yrs ago and used a savlon spray to keep it clean, but the person doing the piercing should advise what aftercare products and safety rules to follow. As someone has already said make sure your daughter doesn't catch herself on her clothing.

I was told not to use anything on it at all, and to keep it dry for 24 hours (no showers!) After that it was fine, was able to change my bar when i had my allergic reaction..but i never had any infections or problems with my body rejecting the bar. All i did was keep it clean and dry. :-)

I had my belly pierced when i was 16 coming up to 3 years now, it is best to have to pierced with steel but some people are allergic and need to have it pierced with plastic. Have a bar as its less likely to come out i had mine with a bar and is fine no problems mu mum had a hoop and it ripped out when she had it redone with a bar its fine. It takes about 6 months to heal but peoples bodys are different and some take longer and some take less.

i had mine done on my 16th. didnt last long lol had a huge row with my mum about 5months later and i acidentally tore it out in my anger.. omg did that hurt like a b*tch. i must hve the smallest belly button in world history so getting it pierced was a little moe sore coz he had to cut some skin off with scissors (i know---i kow---GROSS) i would deffo have it done again though just not right now.. i jut used savlon to clean mine. thats what the man in the shop recommended and its what my 'friend' uses for all her piercings. you cant go on sunbeds or in the sun untill its healed though, not sure why but was just told in the shop.

Becky cut by scissors?! WHY?!! ouch for you!! Did you have freeze spray? I did and i didnt feel a thing, in all my piercings i can honestly say that my belly was the least painful! And double ouch that you ripped it out! I've caught mine a few times on jean-buttons, and the dogs have jumped up and caught it a few times too but nothing detrimental yet, thank goodness. lol
