Hi, i have got a citroen xantia and the clutch cable has snapped, can anyone tell me how the cable is pushed through the bulk head and connected to the clutch pedal please? Do i have to slacken or remove the pedal box to connect the cable? I am having trouble getting the end of the cable through the bulk head, Thanks.

Hi bryn,
It's a pig of a job but possible without removing the pedal box. Connect the cable to the pedal before locating and connecting to the clutch. Grease the cable end and pass through the bulkhead, using a tool or similar raise the clutch pedal to it's highest point and connect the cable, then connect to the transmission housing and clutch.
Good luck.

Thanks for the advice, i have just looked at the cable and it looks ok there is a white plastic clip on the pedal that i think is U/S as the cable has come adrift from the clip, any ideas how i get the clip off please as the cable seems to be in good working order. I have removed the instrument cluster and there is a small hole through which i can see the plastic clip but i am unsure how it comes off, it looks as if there is a pin through the centre, any ideas how i remove this pin please or have i got to remove the pedal? Also is the cable just push fit into the clip that is fitted to the pedal? Or is it likely that the cable is damaged also? Thanks

Bryn

Hi bryn,
Sorry I can't help you. I have only changed a broken cable. To release the cable from the pedal you need to prise down the plastic clip with a screwdriver and connection is just a push fit.
