I have an escort 97, it has one rear fog light which is on the *!#%!@, it didn't work when they tested it but it was working that morning, so obviously a wiring problem, when I lift the boot lid up and down with the fog light on, it flickers as i lift the boot up and down.

Anyone experienced this before?

I was going to get it retested and try my luck but knowing my luck it will stop working again when they test it, so any ideas?

Check the wiring loom where it goes into the tailgate, when you open the tailgate at the top between the two hinges theres a piece of rubber with wires inside, check the wires have not snapped.

a can almost positively tell that the fault is either a poor earth to the tailgate as i did 100's of these when working for ford or clean the pins and plates on the boot lid and lower back panel

Yeah i cleaned the contacts up, they are copper aren't they?
it just flickers sometimes but yeah i looked at it the other night and i was shaking the boot and the light didn't flicker, had mot the next day, so i thought fk it, chance it and it passed the mot.

It had trouble tho on the exhaust emissions test, they was finding it hard to get a reading of the lamda test, mechanic reckons that if i change the lamda sensor it should be ok, do you think it would cure the problem because some people have told me that it doesnt make any difference changing it?
