ford ultima 2.3 brake prob

ford galaxy ultima 2.3 1997 (r) ive had new discs and pads on the front and pads on the back, the problem is when i come to a stop the last bit 10mph/0mph, there is a knocking and juddering coming though the brake pedal, slowing down i dont feel anything at all. then when ive stopped i hear a wearring noise(sounds like the heater fan working) for about 1 min then it goes off even when i pull away. please help cheers

another possibility is hub runout, but the noise i dont know

If it is this fault then it will be virtually just before you come to a stop. First check is to make sure all the abs rings are intact and not broken then visually check all the wire coming from all 4 sensors havent chaffed through anywhere around the wheel areas. After this you really need a diagnostic tool to start narrowing down things. The whirring noise you here may well be the abs pump activating briefly and operating the modulator solenoids (these items are all incased in one unit) at the bulkhead area. ___________________ THERE'S NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT !

took all my wheels off and hey presto found a broken abs ring(sods law it was the last one lol) just got to locate one now!! any ideas / poss sensor aswell front passanger thanks for your help again dave p.s. my car is still for sale!! ha ha!! ___________________ is it half empty or half full???

Personally I would simply do a visual check on the bottom of the abs sesnor and see if it looks scuffed or damaged in any way. Use the other sensor at the front as a comparison for your judgement. I recomend a new ring unless you can get a scrappy one easily enough to try. If it was me I would just try the ring first. This was one of these faults that the first time I came across it years ago I was scratching my head but after encountering this fault a few times over the years now this check is one I find you can apply to most standard 4 channel ABS systems now on most makes of cars for your future reference. ___________________ THERE'S NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT !
