We have a v REG 2.0 petrol focus. I have had strange idle problem and today made it worse. It was suggested to clean the throttle housing which I did using some carb cleaner. The car is now idling at 1300 sticks around 2100 sometimes.
I have checked the throttle cable which is fine and the wires going in to the sensor on the side. Any suggestion on what might be wrong

could be an air leak. problem with the idle speed control valve. have you had a diagnostic test done? ford recommend the throttle body is not cleaned out, can do harm. they even put a sticker inside the throttle body to let people know.
