hi, I would recommend a hearing test too. my son was a 'babbler' but also had constant ear infections, I insisted on a referral to the hearing clinic and he was eventually diagnosed with glue ear. one grommit operation later and you couldn't shut him up!! now he is 15 I sometimes wonder if I did the right thing!! LOL!!

hes not even two yet - i wouldnt worry too much just yet. I've looked after loads of toddlers, even the one i look after now didnt really speak until his 3rd birthday, then as if overnight, he started talking really clearly with a very wide vocablury!! Suprised us all! I think he'd just been listening and learning all the time without letting us know! lol

Hi..its so worryin isnt it when its your own child....but few years down the line you wondered what the panic was about!!! LOL My eldest boy had problems with his speech..and he had speech therapy until he was around 10yrs old...and now hes a fine speaking 27yr old man...lol lol..all kids are individuals and they do it when theyre ready...but like I said at the time its awful for us parents isnt it...but the kids get there ...eventually....try not to worry too much...think when you complain about yr childs speech first thing suggested is a hearing test...so wait and see and take it from there....and like some have said...enjoy the peace...for the time being anyhow...lol lol

Don't worry! My youngest was the same and didn't start talking properly until he was well past three. I was told he didn't need to talk because his older siblings talked for him and I think that is probably what is happening with yours. Good idea to get his hearing checked though just in case, but otherwise he will talk in his good time and like someone else said, then you won't be able to shut him up!!

I had to take my youngest to speech therapy when he was two and he would just sit there saying nothing, but when we came home he would repeat things after my eldest child. So I took them both to the next appointment and the therapist realised he COULD talk, but was taking his time! Stop worrying, like someone else said, once he starts you won't be able to shut him up!

You spend the first 2 years of a childs life teaching them to stand up and talk....................and the next 20 telling them to shut up and sit down.............go figure ! ! !
