Hi,

Basically car has always had a slight noise when then engine is running and the car is stationary in Neutral.

Fiesta Mk5 1.25 Zetec Man 2001

It sounds like a worn bearing noise.

When the clutch pedal is pressed down to the floor the noise goes.

I have recently replaced the clutch assembly but was unable to replace the slave cylinder.

Any ideas to the noise.

I will be replacing the slave cylinder in a few weeks time but the noise is just slightly concerning.

Any Help Much Appreciated

hi, yeah Ive had that noise, years a go i was told its the idle bearing, what that does i dont know, but its probably a gearbox rebuild, depending on the car, is it worth doing, if you get another gearbox it might be just as bad or worse than yours, unless it's really noisy i wouldn't bother,

its probably the clutch thrust bearing and if i remember its part of the clutch slave cylinder but as the others have said nothing to worry about they should have changed it when they replaced the clutch. in the old days the bearing would have been part of the clutch kit but as they now come with the slave cylinder they work out a bit expensive so they left them out
