Fiesta 1.3efi 98/99 - Loss of compression
Messages 1 to 5 of 5.
Took off the rocker cover last night to give the tappets a tune as they were getting a little bit noisey lol. Anyways, after putting everything back together I turned the engine over and these were the following symptons: Engine "wobbling" inside the bay Everything was fine before (yes i no if it aint broke dont fix it....) Anyways after a little investigating I have found the 2nd chambre is not firing as when I removed the HT cable the engine had no different working - removing the others stalled the engine. I discovered a burnt plug so replaced, checked the HT was carring the spark but the engine still performs exactly the same. Garage without looking at it say possible valve... Anyone else got any other ideas before I splash the cash? Thanks

This would cause a loss of compression, and it seems a big co-incidence that it happened straight after you adjusted the tappets! Also, when you say that the plug was burned, was it actually burned out, or just worn?

If anything the tappets were too loose, as started by losening them. Although I would not rule out that maybe they were too tight...
