I built my dolls house about 8 years ago. One mistake i made was to decorate it before thinking about what i wanted to put inside the house. for example, after i had wallpapered and put the skirting etc in i found out that putting in a fireplace meant i would have to cut the skirting. This is difficult to do after it is in place. So my advice would be to look at what you want to include in each room. I spent a long time building the house, i found it relaxing to do. I stained spindles for the stairs, painted windows, laid carpets, installed lighting etc. I still buy items now, and enjoy putting them in the house and giving the house a spring clean now and then. Soon i will be putting in the xmas tree and lights!!!

Hi There, Yes I know what you mean I did the same made quite a few mistakes but hey we have to learn I have nearly finished my one just have to make the curtains and put them up, its all looking good can't wait till next week when our grandaughters see it finished they have waited nearly two years. Hopefully I have learned a lot so the next one I do will be a little easier, Its run down one not new like the one I have just finished, so it will be a lot harder to do a proper D.I.Y. job but Im looking forward to doing it.going to try and put photo on for you to see I have done a roof garden as well Regards Jeannette. I have tried to download picture but cannot do it for some reason sorry

Hi I have been doing dolls houses for the last 10 years, great but expencive hobby. Maybe you should try to find out where you nearest dollshouse group is and go along. You can learn to make so much if you can find a group in your area. Food is a great one as ebay items are not cheep with the postage, and you get self satisfaction from saying,i made that. The house i am doing at the moment i have been working on the last 2 years. I guess it could be done in the next 2yrs if i am lucky.
I will post some pics for you to see jen

Hi Jen, its lovely you are very artistic, and yes I will need my cheque book !!! I will try to be good but that's hard when there will be so many things to buy. When I went to the doll fairs I would tell myself £10 only but always went over !! Its sad as there are no local fairs where I live anymore they are always up north or at the sea sides. always difficult to get to. also there doesn't seem to be much at the car-boots these days. That's why I joined preloved in case anything comes up for sale on there site EBay is quite expensive, I was watching a little dolls pram for the dolls house tonight and it went for£ 57 unbelievable . love Jeannette.

Hi Jeanette, now going to put on more pics i took this morning. I cant say any room is compleat as it's not, still lights to make and add and ceiling decor to do you know, all the little bits, kitchen is almost done just the door to paper and hang the curtains. Anyway here are a few more pic more up to date ones. I will pop in here from time to time if anyone wants any advise, but you will find me also in the vintage pram form, as this is my passion ,also and i have been doing reborn babies for 5yrs and collecting old baby carridges is my new hobby. Hi Jeanette where do you live? and who was the dolls pram by? When you go to kensington there will be a couple there called colin and yevonne roberson, they made the pram in my pic i will be listing here for you to see. This is a 12th scale baby pram, but they also do dolls ones. Not sure about the price i lost my list she sent me. If you want a dolly pram then go with at least 70.00 to buy one from them. They are so well made and the heidi ott ones are crap nothing to compare with these. They are heavy as made from ion/tin. Beautiful work on them as you can see from my pic. I did have a twin one but had to sell it last year. I have just sold my shop, just finished my daughters disney one and thought,oh i just have mine to do now.
Then a friend offered me a great house built by a man in holland 15 years ago and it is fantastic. I am going to be having it after xmas to do, and want to do the georgian period as i love the furniture and clothes.
Do you make your own stuff? I make my lights food and have been known to dress a doll or two. I dressed my 4poster bed in these pics and little girls bed also babies wordrobes and cots. I try to cut cost down where i can. Anyway here are the pics of house for you hugs jen

Hi Jeanette i did list one go back a bit and you will see it, its a large house, it is a shame you have to list 1 pic at a time, have to keep going a finding them, but anyway here is scullery not finished by far. Also where is it you live? i did write back a bit to ask you some things, have a look and let me know. would love to see inside your house it looks nice on the outside. Mine is not finished on the out side yet and doors are not on. Hubby has to do these as my eyes are not so good now.
I hope i am able to do the large rug i just sent for from USA, it will take about a year to do, so hopeing my eyes stay good enough for me to sew it. Next pic is dinning room but not finished again jen
