Hello. I have a berlingo '98 and seem to have a glow plug problem? The glow plug light lights up and then stays on for a few seconds and then goes out....and the engine starts fine...BUT sometimes the glow plug light doesn't come on, or comes on only for a second and goes out again...then the engine turns over but wont start. I can start it by connecting the battery directly to the battery input into the glow plug relay..then the light on the glowplug light on the dash comes on aswell. I have checked the relay and it seems to be working fine...and does have power coming to it from the battery as it should ( it reads 12V) . i've only just bought the van so I don't know but it looks like the plugs have recently been replaced.
I don't get it!...any help appreciated. cheers.

have you checked the feed to the relay when it wont start? could be a damaged/broken wire on the feed to the relay sometimes its making and others not
