Paul

It's worth NOTHING! It's free, so how can it be more trouble? With Windows 7 release due out around October 2009 it gives people who are interested a chance to find bugs in the new OS. Windows 7 was to be XP's replacement but because of problems. VISTA was a make shift OS to fill the gap, but now that WINDOWS 7's major problems have been sorted its bye bye VISTA.

:)

It was not the value of the item i was on about, it was the terms and conditions about using the software in the small print,if you read it all, that,s where it,s not worth the trouble.
It,s just one big money making scam, thay said xp would cure all problems, then Vista was the bee,s knees, now they reckon you need windows 7 because vista was no good, when they bring out Windows 8 they will say the same thing about Windows 7,big con.

Hi Paul

Thanks for the reply. It's your choice at the end of the day, you can stick by the os which you prefer. But the new boss of MS Steve Bullmer hates everything Linux, he's trying to kill it believing that no OS should be free. I like Linux as it's open source too but most hardware companies to not supply drivers for use in Linux.

If you buy a out the box pc then you will have paid for MS XP, Vista, Windows 7 anyway.
cheers :)

Hi All
For those interested, there is some news that the europe version of windows 7 will not have IE 8 included, which means it will have no browser to access the internet.

You will need to download a browser yourself. We can thank the EU for that.

Cheers

7 seems to be more stable using compatability mode on older programs, much better than Vista so I may buy it at half price

I am running Win7 x64 on a dual core amd 2 gig cpu, 2 gig ram and it uses about half my memory. It is so far the best OS that MS have produced since Win 2000. Absolutely no problems running any of my old programs, and it's faster than XP on two of my newest games.
It is also my only OS at the moment on main drive. And yes I do know all the pitfalls of having just 1 OS.

Edit:
Firefox works perfectly well on it where I always had problem between FF and Vista. It even found drivers for my bluetooth dongle.
Deffo buying it in October. Don't really want IE8 as it's bloated. Save a FF download and install that when time comes.

Hi all

With Windows 7 not even out yet Microsoft are at the early stages of working on the replacements, windows 8 & windows 9. It looks like they will have 128 bit ability. So more hardware upgrades for us all sooner or later. Windows 7 will be the last OS to support 32 bit.

Cheers

It`ll be a while before they release any software in 128 as too many are still and will be for years to come running 32 bit,64bit has taken longer than expected due to manufacturers having problems to start with, take up of 64bit I read is getting higher but a long way to go

Also look how large files will be for any given program, instead of gigabytes we will be talking terabytes, slowly getting that way now for gaming machines

Well I went for it (due to being sick and tired of Vista) am now running Win 7 and theres no doubt in my mind this is what Vista should have been, hardly as many warnings and running older software is much easier than it was with Vista ie no crashes and it runs faster.

Not got all my old software on it yet, but some programs I run are windows 95 software which run without a problem,7-starts/boots faster and shuts down faster (Vista suffered from hanging for up to 10 minutes before it shut off) its nice to tell it to shut down and it does so without having to hang around untill it did (sometimes Vista never shut down and had to be forced) I hope it 7 that is stays the same and so far would recommend it to anyone, (at last)
