I was driving home from work and the car just died - it lost power and wouldn't restart. Called my mechanic out and the AA and no one can say why. Fuses all ok and lights and dials work but when you turn the key it just clicks and won't turn over, mechanic used his battery checker and said battery was ok (I'm still not convinced though). The red light on the dash for the immobiliser isn't flashing anymore either. The car has been troublesome lately, it has 110k on the clocks and has had it's cambelt service and also all it's regular ones before then. It had the engine warning light come on a few weeks back and I had the car in and lambda (sp?) sensor replaced and turned the light off. The car has also been lacking power and has a slight misfire which my mechanic couldn't fix either and has the joyous Ford heating problem, finally got it to blow cold now hot won't work but don't care about that - just want my car to start. Sorry about the essay but most of the threads I've read have asked for all detail possible, so there you have it. Is on an 02 plate but so far all the spares have had to be swapped out for 01 parts, I think it was the last of the 01 run but released onto an 02 plate.

Its sounds like the starter has seezed and I'd say the coil pack is knackered. remove starter and hold seculy and arc the live terminals and see it snatches. If it does not try a scape yard for exchange, Itf it does then check battery earth and connections, fluid level and charge. If it still does not start it could well be your immobilsher or cam belt. coils are around £70 for part and easy todo. Once fixed wash it and flog it. Chances are a lot more is going to go including the engine in next 20k
