406 hdi 110 2.0 stuttering @ 2000rpm

I have a 406 HDi 110 D9 (DW10ATED) that has been experiencing some problems lately. The engine has been stuttering, or hesitating when warm / hot at around 2000rpm, this can be made worse when driving around left hand bends. MY local Peugeot (ex) main dealer has plugged it and and printed off / cleared the ECU codes, and they think it may be the High pressure pump at fault, but at £££ to replace, and not guaranteed to fix it we are both reluctant to do this. Extra background to this is that a mechanic friend of mine has looked at this, and found the EGR to be leaking, so we replaced the EGR and Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor as well. The car now goes quite well, apart from the stuttering, meaning what we had replaced, although it needed doing, wasn't the main cause. The codes that keep coming back on the ECU are:- Permanent - Circuit relay Pre/Post heating function Short Circuit to earth it has also suffered from:- The Garage also told me that when driving it the high pressure system pressures were all over the shop around the 2000rpm range, but when flooring it, they stabilized.. hence the diagnosis of the High pressure pump. When you drive it at full throttle, the problem does not occur, but when driving it like a sensible road user, and cruising at 2000 rpm, it gets very annoying.. The car feels like it is about to stall and give up completely, but never does.. anyone else had similar problems???
