Citroen berlingo, fuel pump in tank

the van is with a local mechanic who says he cant touch it as it needs reproggaming .can anybody help with advice Regards.

you should hear the pump prime for 3-5 seconds when you put the ign+ on no it doesn't need coding it is a plug and play pump one check you can do is look under the van at the tank(drivers side) there is a embossed circle this is where bottom of pump is now give it a hard whack with your hand then try to start it.if it starts and then dies after a few seconds yes its the pump it is rare but not unknown for this pump to go mainly affects picasso hdi
