Weight of venturer

The original builders certificate gives the gross tonnage at 5,875lbs which equates to 2.66 tonnes. Ive seen a trailer with each axle load capacity rated at 1.3 ton and the hitch being 1.3 tone rated, I take it this would not be strong enough or could i add a heavier duty hitch to overcome this? The displacement for the venturer is said to be 1250KG what does the actually mean?
