Fiesta Central Locking & Red Key Problems

I say its only a small problem because 9 times out of 10, it works fine. However, on the occasions it doesnt want to cooperate it is hit & miss whether the car will lock or unlock. It is something I might have a look at over the weekend with the help of a Haynes. What should I be looking for since I understand this is quite a common occurrence with Fords? Is it likely to be a replacement job? One last query with regard to the keys. I bought my Fiesta second-hand, and it only came with the key with inbuilt remote fob and the basic key without remote function no red key. What are the implications of not having this key? Thanks for your help in advance!

I have a 3dr fiesta 2001. I only have a red key to operate the ignition and the fuel lock and boot and one of the font doors. The 2nd key i have just opens the other front door. Basically i need to get another key which will operate the igniton. i do not know the code for the red (main) key but i do for the 2nd key. Is there anyway of geting the code read from the key or ecu to be able to get another key to operate the ignition. Many Thanks nick
