Not sure if there has been any previous on this topic but....can anyone say for sure if it is practical to have an autobox on the C5 serviced. By that I mean have the transmission fluid drained and replaced with fresh. Mine has completed around 83000 miles and is beginning to give intermittent problems, ie, slipping, loss of power to the road wheels, at least that is how it feels, and on very rare occasions the drive is lost completely when coming to a stop after a good run. It then picks up with a hefty bump and we are away again. More often than not there seems to be no problems. Stantheman. (Thanks)

yes they can be drained and refilled. There is a drain bung underneath, you need to remove it then you will see its screwed in to what looks like a nut.you nead to un-do that as well. When you take this out it will have a long tube attached and will then allow the fluid to come out. Theres a plug about half way up the gear box for filling, only put the tube back in, and top up until the fluid starts to poor out of the tube.Replace the drain and filler plug .start up untill running temp, work through gears turn off check level. If not right you can add more fluid through dipstick hole.

Thanks for that, although I am a little confused by the suggestion there is a 'dip stick' there. I have not heard of this before nor seen it. Are we talking about the same auto gearbox as fitted to a 2002 C5?

I don't doubt what you have said totally, just not sure I understand.
Thanks again. Stantheman.

Thanks Kev, as you say picture was almost wasted. Not sure how I can send you my 'e' mail details without disclosing them to the world. Other forums have a facility for PM's (personal messages) to be redirected from the host, can't see anything like that on here.

I will keep searching otherwise will take a chance later, I would like to see what you are trying to send me.
