hi all, im on here on behalf of a mate of mine who has recently had hist changed on his polo 1.0, its very sporty looking and very low to the ground and has just developed a fault which the garage cannot seem to find the problem, my mate only has to go for about a mile drive and when he stops the exhaust is red hot, the garage has said that it shouldnt get as hot as that but they not sure what is causing it, can anyone help? its a s/s exhaust system.

its normally a metal box (about the sise of a small shoe box, that sits on or near the down pipe from exhaust manifold it prevents flames traveling down the exhaust pipe. the baffle is just like erm cant describe it lol. its like, the inside of an exhaust pipe.

if the ignition timing is incorrect, it can cause a hot exhaust, so worth checking.
