Hello everyone ive got a w,reg 2000 model tranny tourneo mini bus turbo diesel problem is going up hills its very slow it takes ages to pick up speed on the flat but once it gets going it does 80 90mph easily soon as i hit a hill it just bogs down to 30 40mph it feels like its not getting enough fuel and sometimes misses a little only when going up hills ive changed the diesel filter and this as improved performance a little any one got any ideas????

Its not the turbo its boosting up ive had it checked sometimes when i use it first thing on a morning its really fast then all off a sudden it slows down also when i put fuel in it it does the same again it just pulls like a train it feels to me like fuel nots getting to it when going uphills. The brakes are fine and are not binding.

well the reason i asked if you have had it some time was that quite a few transits had the engine changed from petrol to oil burner and if thats the case with yours the fuel lines would be to small in the bore to allow enough fuel to the engine

Hi thanks for that but im 100% sure its the standard diesel engine and it looks like its never been messed with all i can say is that the diesel pump looks fairly new so i wonder if it as been timed up properly its a lucas pump so not sure if it is the right pump cos last two non turbo trannys ive had was bosch pumps i think

hi you may be missing the point if the engine has been changed from petrol to diesal then more or less eveything in the engine bay would be changed as anything petrol related would be no good for diesal, its just something to check out the fuel lines will be bigger in a diesal than petrol

Hi all i can do is investigate it i no nothing about diesel engines all i can say is the diesel pump is operated by fly by wire so would this be a big job to do if changing from petrol to diesel and would it be worth the hassle doing

ur right would be sizeable job because of the td models being fly by wire so doubt it started life as a petrol

just noticed you say turbo whistles ! you checked boost pipes ? can be the smallest hole to affect performance ,,,,, reason i mentioned exhaust was poss got loose baffles and there sliding backova causin exhaust blockage
