I've a Mk1 (2001) Ka and am told the rear subframe bushes (both sides) need replacing. Has anyone out there done this ? What sort of job is it for a normal DIY person ? Any special tools needed ?
All advice gratefully received.
Thanks

The situation is that my daughter tells me that her Ka has an MOT "advisory" the the "rear subframe bushes are worn". I presume this refers to the trailing arms - as I'm told that a Ka doesn't have a rear subframe as such.

are you looking to do this yourself ? or just wondering how big a job it is as i can send a blow by blow account but its a lot of work puting it together if you do not intend doing it

I'm a reasonably competent DIY person with a normal set of tools and would intend to replace the bushes myself if this job is not fraught with the need for 'special tools'.

hi bazza, we did some at work recently they would be a bit of a bugger for a diyer at home no really specialized tools needed a bloody big hammer and a big strong bloke would be helpful but to be honest if these items were only advised i wouldnt worry about them unless you can phisically hear the rear axle banging and trust me if the bushes were knackered you would here the banging noise hope this helps carlos
