DullyThe warning light is telling you that the brake fluid level is low. You need to investigate and sort this leak before using the vehicle. If you are not able to this yourself, get a garage or mobile mechanic to come to you and sort it Al

DullyI don't know about any specific problem with Fords, but I would seriously check over any cars hydraulica from end to end if it had been out of use for asl long as 2 years, it could fail anywhere after that length of time. You should also check all the pipe work, steel and flexies, as they can also deterioate. I'm about to put my 50 y/o Austin back on the road, after 18 months lay up and intend changing all the wheel cys rubbers as well as the master. As I rather spend a day doing it than have a nasty accident. Al

it might be a good idea to flush the old brake fluid out with white sprite, then replacing/topping up with new brake fluid

ok thanks, but its just had an mot,but i guess its the master cylinder the rubber seals must have gone hard and letting brake fluid pass as one uses the brake pedal again after the long standing, terrible isnt it the front coil spring broke wen i jacked the front up to free off and change the pads and discs, also the rears brakes seized, but all good now as it passed the brake test well on the readout.anyone out there changed the seals on a brake master cylinder.thanks dully.

Tommytoo right i'm going't to tell you you shouldn't use that either! if you read that web site link you quoted, it clearly says the meths is for cleaning arounsd the m/cyl and reservoir before removing ther top so dirt and the meths etc cannot get inside. Only NEW brake fluid should be used to flush through each cyl until all the old fluid is expelled into the collecting jar. Al

hi folks dully here ,just been told that the slave cylinder on the clutch needs changing cos the seals have gone letting in air to the breaking system and the clutch hydraulics. guess wot the slave cylinder is in the bloody bell housing, so driveshafts out gearbox out. its part of the release bearing apparantly, anyway i just undone the bleed nipple located on top of the bell housing and bleed the air out and got my clutch back to how it was.not saying that the cylinder is ok ,but if it dont leak out of the bottom of the bell housing, could be problem solved as just air in the system due to me, maybe freeing off the rear brake cylinders, but to good to be true more like.ill see wot happens, if the warning light comes on again then i will have to strip it down, may as well fit a new clutch, especially if its soiled.dully! let u know soon thanks all.
