the red light keeps flashing on the temp gauge but the temp gauge says the engine isnt overheating its a 1998 ford galaxy can some help please

topped it up yesterday the light went off drove the car this morning and it came back on

hi, when you topped it up did you have to put a lot in, and now that the light has come on again have you re-checked the level,

ok, its sounds like you've got a leak, first check all the rubber hose/clip connections for any signs of leaks, then check the radiator for any signs of wetness after you've been driving it, but as it sounds like a fast leak, so it might be the water pump, top up the water again, go for a short drive or run the engine until its at working temperature, and then take a look under your car to see if you can spot any drips of water, then turn the engine off, open the bonnet and look directly above where the water drip's are, this will give you a good indication where it's leaking from, and you might be able to see the water leaking/dripping

in the worst case scenario it's the head gasket, which is going to be silly money, if you have to pay someone to fix it

is your car petrol or diesel ?

check the engine for leaks first, def sounds like you have a coolant leak. have done lots with the aluminium pipes underneath the car which run from front to rear corrode and leak.

it a coolant leak but i can see where its comming from it looks like its coming from the back of the radiator so ive got to get underneath the car and take the plastic panel underneath
