I've misplaced the only key for my Escort R reg diesel van. Does anyone know what I need to get around this ie obviously I need a lock set but I think that I will need the electronic part that recieves a signal from the key that is fitted around the ignition barrel. Do I need any thing else? I think that there is an electronic device fitted to the fuel pump, does this talk to the part around the barrel??
Help seriously needed on this one.Don't want to go to Fords and pay a fortune as that is probably more than the van is worth.

first you need a key to remove the ig barrel which needs to be position 1 to remove. to get the key number you need to remove the door barrel strip/rebuild to get numbers from tumblers in correct order. you then need 3 keys(although you can get away with 1) these keys have to be programmed to the car using a specialist computer and yes the pump is coded to the keys as is the starter. the transceiver around the barrel only passes the code from the key to the computer it does not hold a code any more info you can phone me 01234 302157
