When im sitting in traffic, with my foot on the brake pedal, now and again the pedal goes down about 2cm on its own! Is this the servo? also, would the servo affect the idling of the engine?

hi,depends if the servo had an air leak the pedal would be hard and the idle speed would be higher than normal if you pumped the brake pedal continuosly the idle speed would drop or may even stall if your really energetic however under normal braking you wouldnt experience either of these unless you had a problem however this doesnt explain the pedal dropping sometimes when master cylinder seals go faulty the pedal can drop almost to floor if you gently rest your foot on pedal and i mean gently applie no pressure at all the pedal will sink almost to floor if you experience this i would say master cylinder may be at fault hope this is of some help regards carlos

Thanks for your help, The master cylinder isnt leaking anywhere tho, could it be the non-return valve?
